2010 hopefuls tee up for 2009 candidates

It’s never too late to for next year’s big-name candidates to remind everyone that there’s still an election this year.

The big names in the 2010 races have been spending the last week rallying their supporters in e-mail messages, encouraging them to get out and vote for the slates being put forward by their respective parties. On Monday, it was Democrats Joe Sestak and Joe Hoeffel, candidates for Senate and governor, respectively, who urged their followers to make it to the polls for Tuesday’s general election.

“I’d like to ask for your vote on Tuesday—not for me, but with me for my fellow Democrats running throughout the state of Pennsylvania,” Sestak wrote Monday morning before laying out the party’s ticket of judicial candidates.

Later, it was Hoeffel writing that “tomorrow is a critical Election Day for all Pennsylvanians.”

“Unfortunately, the desperation of our Republican friends has led them to sink to new lows by replacing the O in President Obama’s name with a hammer and sickle in a recent mailing meant to fire up their true partisans,” he added, referring to an a GOP ad last month. “We must rise up again, as we did last year and reject these divide and conquer tactics that the Republicans so regularly employ.”

I’ve been hammering Sestak on this for weeks. So, today, he finally makes ONE plea for fellow Dems? Please. Too little. Too late.

  2. I don’t think Jack Panella is a communist, he served on the Judicial Conduct Board. The hammer and sickle should be replaced with kids and cash !!!

    David-
Did you see Joe’s letter in the Delco Times last week? I also got a robo call from him for a D candidate.
I know you are angry with him, and it may not appease you, but this was not Joe’s very first effort on behalf of another Dem.
    Go Phillies!

Colleen, this is mere “token” support from him. He came to our dinner and while everyone else talked about helping our county and state judicial candidates out west, he talked about himself. It came off very poorly.

    Colleen-
Are you referring to his endorsement of Nancy Rhoads Koons? She is the only one he has done anything significant for.
His endorsement didn’t even mention her until the 4th paragraph (because he chose to write about himself first). He didn’t even mention any other Dems.

Joe has left the rest of Delco swinging in the wind this year, especially Chester (though Specter gave them some money).

Why no mention of my candidate, Dan? Jack Wagner has been EVERYWHERE this fall stumping for Democratic candidates, and sent out at least 3 or 4 e-mails doing the same. Maybe he didn’t advertise it to the media, but trust me he’s been there and we’ll remember that next year.

    Middleman,

Indeed, Jack Wagner has been stumping everywhere for our state and county candidates. Jack was out front with Specter carrying the flag in terms of being an advocate. He did an awesome job and helped alot of judicial candidates.

Just got off the phone from a long list of GOTV calls for Delco candidates – so I missed today’s discussion.
I just hope we can pull together at some point.

Despite some heart-breaking losses in Delaware County, we won in Chester. Thanks again to Arlen Specter for donating money to help.

    David-

We may have had your fortune it appears in you had in Chester…. HAD WE HAD a candidate willing to come out west to help promote the candidates as opposed to himself.
