He said nothing about not taking his partnership with Joe Hoeffel to the next level. Matthews received the chilliest of receptions at the State Committee meeting the previous weekend. That is the reason he's not running. He was censured by his home county party. Hard to recover from that when the states' largest state committee delegation is from your home county and the detest you. Kinda made it hard for chairs from other big counties to every seriously consider Matthews. The funny thing? Had Matthews not turned the county over to Hoeffel, Castor would have still satyed a commissioner in light of the Corbett victory in '07. Hoeffel would have been irrelevant and could never have run for governor, and there would be no reason the Montco GOP wouldn;t have jumped on the Matthews for Lite Guv bandwagon a second time.
