Specter wants ‘robust’ public option
Continuing his support for the Democratic agenda in Washington, Senator Arlen Specter on Thursday called for a ‘robust’ public option for health care.
In an op-ed on The Huffington Post, Specter wrote: “The public option will create competition in the marketplace and will help to provide affordable choices for American families. It will also allow us to greatly expand the number of Americans with health insurance, and that is an imperative.”
Specter has emerged as a fervent supporter of the public option in recent months, as he eyes a primary against Congressman Joe Sestak (D-7) next year.

So very interesting that Arlen Specter’s interest in and support of the public option was not present until Joe Sestak came out in full support of it.

Barbara-
So very interesting that Senator Specter has called for single payer to be on the table and “fake” progressive Joe Sestak wont support it as an option.

WESTPADEM6 – Specter knows single-payer is a non-starter in this political climate, so his support is meaningless. He is only pandering to the left. And he is only doing that because real progressive Joe Sestak is challenging him.
Anyone who’s paid attention knows that saying one thing and doing another are typical for Specter. There is no danger Specter will ever have to vote on single payer so he can play all he wants at supporting it.
