Sestak finally hits back
This is getting a bit repetitive. Specter attacks Sestak for missing votes. Sestak comes back with some iteration of saying Specter puts politics above everything else.
Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
The latest is Sestak’s belated response to Specter’s letter calling on him to get back to voting or quit his House seat. Sestak’s campaign never formally got back to us on this one, and Specter’s campaign was sure to note yesterday that it had be “24 hours & still no word from Joe Sestak.”
Well, Politico got a hold of Sestak, and he went back to the Senate shutting down early for Specter’s fundraiser with President Obama last week. He also said none of the 100-plus votes he missed were important.
“One thing I will never do is place government business of the nation below my personal gain,” Sestak said. “I was astounded when Arlen asked Senator Reid to halt the Senate’s business so he could attend a 10,000 dollar a plate fundraising dinner in Philadelphia.”
One has to wonder how many more trips this merry-go-round can take before breaking down.

There is NO report that says “Arlen asked Senator Reid to halt” anything.
EVERY statement made was that it was Reid’s decision. Since Specter and Casey were to attend the event (which was scheduled far in advance), Reid made the decision to shut down early.
Sestak’s like a kid with a failing grade who plays hooky and misses some pop-quizzes, then says “Yeah, but I was here for the important tests”.
Sestak needs detention not retention.

Sestak… says this… yet he’s shown to be the most selfish person in the Democratic Party. No Show Joes team failed to respond… hahaha what a surprise! Maybe they didnt show up at the campaign office.

Sestak puts politics (i.e. camapaigning for a promotion) ahead of governing (showing up to vote on bills such as the 2010 agricultural and rural appropriations bill). What a hypocrite.

At the end of the day, Sestak has missed 125 votes and counting in 2009, and Specter has missed 4.
I’m curious to see what Sestak’s response will be the next time he skips votes.
How many time can he trot out the Harry-Reid-closed-the-Senate-early bit? I’d say once, maybe twice more before it loses its punch.
(Even though the charge was inaccurate when Pat Toomey brought it up initially, and remained inaccurate now that Sestak has copied him.)

Yes, when you have good attendance, you get out early/ an aerly dismissal for good behavior…. its like the attendance award given to kids in elementary school for perfect/ stellar attendance.
Where skippers such as no show joe are whining from detention that the stellar attendee got an early dismissal.

Sestak missed out on the Haverford Township Day parade. He thinks he can take Haverford for granted because he won all but 2 or 3 precincts out of 36 last time around.
He missed out meeting thousands of local voters AND helping local Dems so he could visit Pittsburgh. Based on the photos he’s tweeting, he met with a few dozen people there.
This is just another completely wasted opportunity. He seemed pretty foolish darting back and forth across the street at the Labor Day parade trying to shake a few hands, while Specter got to give the speech. He can’t get a crowd to save his life. And when a local crowd does form in his district, he’s AWOL.
He’d be better off scheduling by throwing darts at a board.
BTW, has he settled on a campaign manager yet? A few months ago he acknowledged he was dropping his brother and shopping for someone competent. The problem is that a competent manager would be forced to do things “the Sestak way”, and thus would never actually be permitted to do a proper job. No one with a good track record and common sense should want the job.
Campaign finance reports are out in two weeks. We’ll see if
1) he hired anyone
2) how few staffers he’s paying
3) if he’s still paying his brother and two sisters 3 times the going rate for donor funded nepotism.
