FORMER CONGRESSMAN BOB WALKER ENDORSES TOM CORBETT FOR GOVERNOR
By CORBETT FOR GOVERNOR
Harrisburg – Today former United States Congressman Bob Walker announced his endorsement of Attorney General Tom Corbett to be Pennsylvania’s next Governor.
Walker, who represented Pennsylvania’s 16th Congressional District for 20 years, cited Corbett’s experience, values, vision and integrity as reasons that will make him an effective governor.
“I believe that Tom is not only the Republican candidate with the best chance of helping our party take back the Governor’s office, but I also believe he is the best candidate to restore fiscal discipline in Harrisburg and turn around Pennsylvania’s struggling economy,” Walker stated. “I am impressed with Tom’s plan to move quickly to do something about Pennsylvania’s ridiculous WAMs, and to cut back on the number of cars handed out to state employees. The saving from these two changes alone would be quite dramatic.”
Congressman Walker encouraged all Pennsylvanians to join him in supporting Tom Corbett to be Pennsylvania’s next Governor.
The complete statement of Congressman Walker’s endorsement is attachment.

Statement from the Honorable Robert Walker
Today I am announcing my endorsement of Tom Corbett to become Pennsylvania’s next Governor. I have made this decision after taking a hard look at all the candidates in the race.
I believe Tom is not only the Republican candidate with the best chance of helping our party take back the Governor’s office, but I also believe he is the best candidate to restore fiscal discipline in Harrisburg, and turnaround Pennsylvania’s struggling economy.
Certainly Tom’s success in fighting corruption is well known. And his election to the Governor’s office will go a long way towards restoring people’s trust in our state government. But as the manager of one of the state’s largest operations, with over 800 employees, Tom also has the necessary managerial skills that will be needed to cut out of control spending, lower taxes, and develop an economic plan to create much needed jobs.
Tom’s actions as Attorney General also speak volumes about his commitment to hard-working taxpayers, and protecting their hard-earned money. While too many elected officials have found innovative ways to raise taxes and spend more unnecessarily, Tom has done something quite different…he’s returned money to the taxpayers.
Tom’s office has successfully gone after the assets of those who have broken the law, and to date, has returned over half a billion dollars to taxpayers who were defrauded, overcharged or otherwise lost money as a result of an inappropriate business practice. This money has gone to help our seniors, fight crime and provide restitution to the victims of crime.
I am also impressed with Tom’s plan to move quickly to do something about Pennsylvania’s ridiculous WAMS, and to cut back on the number of cars handed out to state employees. The saving from these two changes alone would be quite dramatic.
Of particular comfort to me is Tom’s clear understanding of the unique needs of rural Pennsylvanians. From his strong commitment to helping our farmers and Pennsylvania’s important agricultural industry, to the preservation of our cherished resources, I believe Tom will be a strong advocate for all of Pennsylvania, not just our largest cities.
Finally, I have always been impressed with Tom’s character and his Pennsylvania values. As a teacher, National Guardsman, prosecutor, U.S. Attorney, and our state’s Attorney General, Tom has certainly proven his capabilities. But just as important, Tom has always represented Pennsylvania with honor and dignity.
I strongly encourage all Pennsylvanians to join me in supporting Tom Corbett to be Pennsylvania’s next Governor.
