Callahan for Congress Raises $345,000 in First Quarter
By CALLAHAN FOR CONGRESS
Bethlehem, PA – Today, Bethlehem Mayor John Callahan announced his Congressional campaign in Pennsylvania’s 15th district raised over $345,000 in just over two months since declaring his candidacy on July 29th. Mayor Callahan showed strong local support with 80% of his donations coming from Pennsylvania and the campaign has over $325,000 cash on hand.
“I’m proud of all the support we’ve received and I’m humbled to have so many people backing my campaign,” said Mayor Callahan. “Like I’ve done as Mayor, in Congress I’ll be an independent voice working to create jobs, get our economy back on track, restore fiscal responsibility, and keep our communities safe.
“The overwhelming amount of support we’ve received in just two short months makes one thing clear: the Lehigh Valley wants new, independent leadership in Washington.”
John Callahan has served as Mayor of Bethlehem since 2004. Under his leadership, the city has been revitalized with the creation of thousands of new jobs and billions of dollars in economic development. Bethlehem was once home to the nation’s largest brownfield after the closing of Bethlehem Steel. Now, as a result of Mayor Callahan’s leadership and his economical revitalization efforts, Money Magazine named Bethlehem the most livable city in Pennsylvania. He has remained committed to fiscal responsibility during his time in office as he cut government waste and aggressively reduce the city’s debt by $54 million. As a result of his efforts, Bethlehem is now one of the safest, most prosperous, and fastest growing cities in Pennsylvania. In Washington, Mayor Callahan will to use his experience to bring those kinds of results to the entire Lehigh Valley.
