A carrot-and-sticks routine from Joe Sestak
During his endorsement conference call with Ned Lamont Monday, Joe Sestak had a snappy new quote I hadn’t heard before.
Anytime Arlen Specter’s support for a public health insurance option is brought up, it’s standard practice for Sestak to say Specter followed “my leadership.”
But this one sounded new.
“Controlling Arlen Specter is a pretty tough job,” he said. “The White House has to provide the carrots, I have to provide the sticks.”

Sestak seems to have an endless supply up his @ss from his time as an Admiral.
Of course, the REAL “stick” is Specter getting his seniority back and key committee assignments.
Missing is the acknowledgment of how Specter is forcing Sestak to the Left.

You think Democrats are going to give up seniority for Arlen? Why?

That was the deal he cut with Reid. If his votes hold up, it’s reasonable to reward him as promised.
If the Dems don’t stand by their deals, we won’t be able to expand the party and bring over more Dems.
Besides, don’t you think Specter DESERVES Dem seniority over the blue-dog Dems that a blocking Obama’s efforts? I think Reid should start stripping some of them of committee positions.
AS long as Specter is on our side, he’s a great Senator to have chairing the right committees. He’s one of the smartest/sharpest minds in the Senate.

David,
They have no intentions of rewarding him!

Karen-
Coming from a Toomey fan, your lack of faith in Specter’s success means SO much.
