Win or lose, Touey says she’s back in the district to stay

DREXEL HILL—As she campaigns for the 7th Congressional District, E. Teresa Touey will almost inevitably be criticized for the fact that she’s spent the last 18 years outside her native district, working as a political consultant in Massachusetts.

Touey, who declared her candidacy Monday, is in the process of moving back to Glenolden, where she grew up. She hopes to have completed the move by Thanksgiving.

But while acknowledging that her residency is fair political game, she emphasized Monday that she’s back in Pennsylvania for the long run—regardless of whether she wins the Democratic primary next year.

“Yes, I will,” she said without hesitation when asked if she’d stay in town if she loses next year.

And she made another pledge, too.

“I’ll actually work for the Democratic winner,” Touey said.

Maybe she can use her “connection” with Sestak to get him to help the Democratic Primary winner, or give back the money he collected for the 7th district election.

I also wonder if after working on Sestak’s 2006 campaign, whether Teresa was happy with Sestak’s betrayal of the troops and his campaign promises to fund the Iraq War without timetables or accountability. If she liked that, she probably liked Joe’s vote to fund Cheney’s office.

Well, when Sestak loses the primary, the Democratic Primary winner will be the main game-in-town (unless she wants to work for the governor’s race or helping with St. Leg or St. Senate).

So is she moving here to represent the people of the 7th and to better the District or is she moving here to line up her next political staffer job?

It must be a sign of the economy that Touey, Welch and Pike are looking for taxpayer funded jobs representing districts that they do not live in or recently moved to. What are Trivedi, Schroder and Costello thinking wanting to represent districts where they live (and have lived for quite some time)?

Okay let’s see if I got this right. She thinks she can move to the 7th CD and run when she has no issues, no base and hasn’t lived in PA 7th CD for almost 20 years. She thinks she can run against a great State Rep which should have had the seat when the carpetbagger Sestak ran the 1st time and has been nothing but a major disappointment. Seems her claim to fame is that she went to a local HS, big deal. Just maybe she is just a seat holder for Sestak when he loses the US Senate seat which is very likely. She claims she was a staffer for Kennedy does that mean she was a go for for him as I thought I knew the ones that meant anything at all and she was NOT one of them. I guess she is in need of a job, well she will have to prove a hell of a lot to the voters in the 7th CD. I would like to see a woman elected but it must be the right one and she stands no chance. State Rep, Bryan Lentz has not much to worry about as he has a great record and those that know him, love him. A place holder for Sestak is all she is and that will be seen. She has no friends that appear to be from Delaware county on face book other than the so called county chair. Does she not know that MA folks can’t vote for her? Yes she may get money out of the ATM of Ma but sorry no votes. As a consultant doesn’t she know that Sestak won the 1st time as he and the Clinton’s had the CIA and FBI attacking Weldon and the 2nd election was a big presidential election. I am not sure that he would have been reelected if it had been a off year election. I will work and vote for Bryan Lentz. Lentz is the closest we will get to Bob Edgar and that is what we need again in the 7th CD. She may be calling her former school mates but Lentz will have all the vets as he has served his country and he is well respected and liked,
Her running stinks to high heaven and as a woman SHE will not have my vote. Voting against a place holder is what everyone in the 7th CD must do.

I’m sure she’s a fine person and might even make a good candidate, but there’s no way she’ll get my vote over Lentz or Vitali (if he enters the race).

I am curious who people think will run for Vitali’s seat if he moves on. Who is Sam Thomas? Whats his background/resume? A friend who has been active in campaigns tells me he has done a lot of work for different Democrats, including Sestak. Can someone confirm this? Is there someone else? Also, there seems to be a lot of chatter on this site, but no real answer about who E. Teresa Touey is. What was her title with Sestak/Kennedy/Edgar? I have heard from local party activists that she was a local organizer? Someone else asked if she had a website, but there was no answer, does she? Can we get a better look at who these people are? Is it possible that she is not a place holder and just wants to run for the seat? I cant imagine she is better than Lentz or Vitali, but I know almost nothing about her.

That gives us a brief bio, but not very much. Can someone confirm any of this information? Has he confirmed his interest in the race? If Vitali chooses to run for higher office it will be very important to keep the seat he currently holds, especially for redistricting after the census. The resume Thomas lists on Twitter seems extensive, if its all true maybe he would be a good candidate for the seat. Someone please help me confirm this. Also, does anyone have the bio for Touey? Her resume? Seems this site is dedicated to getting this information, yet its all missing.

There should be a candidates profile section page, giving voters all the information about candidates and prospective candidates, I know there is candidate central, but that does not include enough candidates or races.

p.s. – There are a lot of comments about Sestak and his turnover and his work environment yet Thomas seems to be a supporter. Maybe it isnt so bad? Is Touey?
