Rothenberg calls PA-6 a ‘toss-up’
The Rothenberg Political Report, that prominent handicapper of House races, has changed the 6th Congressional District contest from “Republican Favored” to “Pure Toss-Up.”
The change is likely a reflection of incumbent Congressman Jim Gerlach’s decision to run for governor, a crowded GOP primary to replace him and the likelihood that wealthy Democrat Doug Pike will emerge from the primary largely unscathed.

All the more reason to run a great GOP candidate here. I seem to recall (and please correct me if I am wrong) that Rothenberg or Cook had rated this a toss-up in the ’06 cycle. It is always a close district so us GOPers have to choose the best candidate who can articulate our position to the voters of the 6th.

If you think our “best” is a guy who district-hopped 2 weeks ago and who the party-insiders want for 1 reason – money – then Joe Hart, you must be on the Welch payroll. Voters reject inside political deals. Schroder is a movement!

Schroder is a movement? I’m sorry he is a has-been!
You may twist this anyway you want but I’m not a Welch insider. Money sure doesn’t hurt but it is not the only reason why the party will get behind someone. The democrats have put millions into this district the last couple of races and lost. The party also looks for energy and excitement. I’ve been to a couple party picnics recently and Mr. Welch absolutely brings this to the table and Schroder does not!
Go Pike!

This is great for Doug Pike.
