I don’t know how I missed this cauldron of misinformation until now, but it proves my point that relatively few people commenting on blogs spend much time volunteering or working in campaign offices, where elections are won. Teresa Touhy was indeed a field coordinator for Sestak in 2006. She was hired in the fall in the fall based on a standard job application as the staff was rapidly ramping up. She had no prior connections to Sestak, Field Director Jared Solomon, or anyone else working on the campaign for that matter. To suggest that she is a plant for Sestak is absurd. Touhy has had no love lost for Sestak since she wasn’t offered a congressional staff position after the 2006 campaign. (Neither was I, but that was fine with me. 6 months of keeping up with Joe Sestak 7 days a week was quite enough.)

The story I have heard is that Kennedy family or staffers encouraged her to run. That could be, but if so it shows that they know nothing about the PA 7th District.

And Sam Thomas has worked for Joe Sestak’s campaign off and on since 2006, is not related to Bill Thomas, is a very talented guy, but apparently isn’t running for anything, and should finally finish his 7 year plan college degree before he does! (Refer to my comment above about people who spend their lives in campaign offices. Sam is one of those people and all kidding aside, he deserves a lot of credit from Dems in this area for it.)

Exactly what did she do for Kennedy? Go buy coffee, walk his dogs? I worked in his campaign in 1980 as his state coordinator but I would never mislead people that I worked for Kennedy. It was campaign work yes but not on staff. There is a big difference between campaign staff and Senate staff.

Getting very clear that she is just a place holder for Sestak when he loses to Specter.
Sestak is a little guy with a big ego. He thinks he has all the answers for the the 7th CD and just what has he done except collect his Big pay check.
He came out of nowhere in 2006 and people voted for him as DNC and DCCC wanted him as his was a friend of the Clinton’s. People in very high places asked Bryan Lentz to step aside for this weasel of the world that had just got an apartment
in the 7th and registered to vote but prior to that he had done nothing!

She may think she is a place holder for him but either Lentz or Vittali will win the Primary and go on to win the general.

Donna-
Edgar’s campaign was 20 years ago (before the internet, ubiquitous laptops, etc.) I would consider any experience then to be completely irrelevant to today.

As for crybaby Sestak, I find it ironic when he says you need primaries to get the best candidate, because we got him instead of Lentz.

Joe and Ed do seem to have a hot bromance.

I’m not interested in having another Pennsylvanian ex-patriot return “home” for a political seat and jump in line in front of people that have earned it.

I knew Teresa in Edgar’s campaigns-not remarkable. Looks like she has done well for herself out of state.
I don’t know how many remember this, but I worked on Bryan Lentz’ congressional campaign when he was running against Sestak. At that time Ed Rendell ‘annointed’ Sestak over Lentz and made Lentz run for the House seat, which he won. The reason was Sestak had ‘Clinton money’ and Bryan wouldn’t have those resources. I get really ticked when I see Sestak crying on TV (he’s always on Ed Shultz’ show- Ed has a mancrush on Joe I think)about Ed, Obama and Biden ‘annointing’ Arlen for Senator…how soon he forgets that he was the chosen one before.
Going through over 61 staffers since Sestak’s been in office is pretty bad. I’ve heard he verbally abuses them….and he had the same reputation when he was in the Navy….lots of stuff there. I hope Arlen brings it all out. As for Teresa-we are tired of people moving out of PA to create a life then coming back here to save us. No thanks…nice woman but no thanks. Lentz all the way.
