Republicans targeting 6 Pa. House members
A list of 70 Congressional incumbents being targeted next year by the National Republican Congressional Committee includes six from the Keystone State.
The list, first reported by Politico, includes few surprises. Republicans will be looking to unseat freshman and sophomore members Kathy Dahlkemper, Jason Altmire and Chris Carney. And the often-vulnerable Paul Kanjorski is also on the list.
But the NRCC is also looking to target John Murtha, who few expect to be beat even with corruption scandals swirling around him. And the list mentions Joe Sestak, who is now all-but-certainly vacating his seat in favor of a Senate run.

Surprising that they view Altmire as vulnerable. He is not that good and not that strong, but you cannot defeat somebody with nobody, and the R’s have nobody with any credibility seeking this seat. They blew it when they allowed an out-of-touch Melissa Hart to run again last year. Two top R’s in that district are Orie and Turzai, and I cannot see either giving up current leadership positions and safe seats to embark on such a fool’s errand.

the sestak seat will remain democratic. rs have no credible candidate to run against the 2 well-liked state legislators that will seek the D nomination. Guess they are banking on that wonderkid from montco…just his $ will not be enuff to win the 7th! can’t see them winning murtha, kanjorski, carney or altmire seat-don’t kno enuff bout dahlkemper.

Am always surprised that Tim Holden stays under the radar when these lists are made.
Without the cover af a Republican majority in the House, Holden has become Nancy Pelosi’s lap dog. Even a cursory look at his House voting record will confirm it. Most any credible, well-financed opponent should be able take this guy down in a conservative district.
Gilhooley had no cash last year, but she nevertheless forced Holden to face some issues he would rather not have and, in the process, softened him up for the next GOP candidate.

Buster,
Holden is a Blue Dog, which is GOP lite. Wherever did you get the idea that he is Pelosi’s lap dog? Holden is in the back pocket of fossil fuel energy interests AND the health insurers. Didn’t you see the teevee ad against Holden? It’s great. Holden also took over $380,000 in campaign donations from the insurance industry. Didn’t you see the report about the majority of the Blue Dogs are in the insurance industry’s back pocket? I don’t like Blue Dogs at all. We are better off without them. I want a real Dem in those seats.
