Happy Birthday, Harry Fawkes
The Elephant was strutting its stuff last night in New Hope, as over 200 friends and politicos came to celebrate the 80th birthday of Harry Fawkes, longtime Bucks County GOP chairman. This power broker, who has overseen the local Republican Party for 37 years, was honored by many elected officials, including Attorney General Tom Corbett, state Senator Tommy Tomlinson and state Representatives Paul Clymer, Bob Mensch, Scott Petri, Frank Farry, and Kathy Watson.
Pat Poprik, vice chairman of the Bucks County GOP; former Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick; Bucks County businessman and man-in-the-know, Pat Deon—as well as many committee members, state committee members, and non-politicos to—helped make this milestone a memorable night for a man who truly loves Bucks County and the Republican Party.
Citations were given from both the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the Pennsylvania State Senate. Brief speeches were given by many in attendance, including Corbett, a 2010 gubernatorial candidate, and County Commissioner Jim Cawley, a possible contender for Lieutenant Governor.
The entertainment was non-stop, with fun stuff like the Philadelphia group from the 70′s, “The O’Jays,” best known for their Gamble and Huff No. 1 hit, “Love Train,” as well as a Mummers’ string band, and Can-Can dancers.
Even though I couldn’t attend, my man on the street told me that Harry thanked everyone there, and appreciated their support and help over the three plus decades he has been at the helm in Bucks County.
Suburban Snapshot wishes only the best to Harry Fawkes, an 80-year-old young-at-heart Republican.

Jim McCullen for Mayor of Bristol.
He is not going to do business as usual. Just ask Harry Fawkes.
