not sure why you think Pike won;t do well in Berks. It’s all about the economy and jobs in Berks and the GOP know zilch about jobs and the economy. I think Pike carries Berks strong just like Obama did.

Why go against someone with experience and create a primary battle. Costello needs a dose of humility and some experience. Pike vs the Pisher? GOP loses. Has to be Schroder to look like a race in 2010. Other than hacks who will support him?
Pike will not play well in Berks and parts of Chester County…will get interesting!

Where have we heard that line before?

In truth, Gerlach vacating the seat does, in theory, increase the likelihood of the seat (finally) going blue. However, two things to keep in mind. First, Republicans managed to hold the seat throughout very difficult political environments (particularly over the last two cycles). Whether that was a testament to Gerlach or the swing nature of the district remains to be seen. Secondly, the national environment looks to be much more friendly for Republicans next year. If Republicans clean up here (as it looks like they may), I just don’t see them dropping a district in a good year that they managed to hold over several bad years. Costello looks like the type of new, fresh face the GOP needs nationwide. However, whomever wins this seat next year, it won’t be by a higher margin than Gerlach’s performances (51%-52%).

You Republican flacks don’t know your left foot from your right.

According to his website, including a successful 35-year career, Pike was also chairman of the board at a hospital for ten years.

Now, I have no “inside” sources, but that sounds like someone who knows how to run a business, make money, and probably invest money. If you look at the stock market in the last 40 years (even with a recent downturn), it is easy to see how someone could make a bunch of money there.

Republican lies won’t stick with no sources and no truth.

Can you share yours that indicate he worked hard for his cash.

Last I checked, journalists don’t typically have the cash to drop a ton of cash on Congressional races.
