Corbett gets money help from former Bush, McCain fundraiser

State Attorney General Tom Corbett’s exploratory gubernatorial campaign announced Wednesday night that a former top fundraiser for John McCain and George W. Bush would be its national finance chairman.

David Girard-diCarlo, who is also the former United State ambassador to Austria, was state finance chair for McCain’s presidential campaign, co-chaired the Pennsylvania Bush-Cheney reelection campaign in 2004 and also worked for former Gov. Tom Ridge’s campaign.

“I am honored to receive the support of Ambassador David Girard-diCarlo,” Corbett said in a statement. “David has a great track record with numerous state and national Republican campaigns and is well respected in the legal and business communities, not only in Pennsylvania, but throughout the United States.”

Corbett faces Congressman Jim Gerlach (R-6) in the GOP primary next year.

Correction: This article originally misstated the country to which Girard-diCarlo was U.S. Ambassador. It is Austria, not Australia.
