This year’s budget will provide plenty of material for GOP next year

Yesterday, we received further proof that Gov. Ed Rendell and his administration are completely out-of-touch with the needs of Pennsylvanians. In an article published in The Tribune-Review, soon-to-be former Rendell spokesman Chuck Ardo responded to the news from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation that Pennsylvania shoulders the 11th highest per capita tax burden of any country in the nation by stating that Pennsylvanians are not overtaxed.

Really?

With a Democratic governor desperately clinging to a fiscally irresponsible 16 percent hike in the personal income tax and Democrats in the General Assembly fighting to increase government spending in the midst of an economic crisis, Pennsylvania voters are getting a first-hand look at just how disastrous the Democrats’ governance is in our Commonwealth. Ardo’s comments represent just the kind of thinking that will propel Republicans into the Governor’s Mansion and into the majority in the state House.

So please, Democrats, keep talking about the fairness of Pennsylvania’s tax system.

We’re all ears.
