Toomey trails both Specter and Sestak in new poll

Toomey trails both Specter and Sestak in new poll

Republican Pat Toomey trails both of his potential Democratic rivals for Senate, according to a poll released today.

The Rasmussen survey of 500 voters showed Senator Arlen Specter beating Toomey, the likely Republican nominee, by 11 points, 50 percent to 39 percent. Congressman Joe Sestak’s (D-7) lead over Toomey is slimmer, 41 percent to 35 percent.

In the Specter match-up, 4 percent of respondents said they would vote for other candidates, while 7 percent were unsure. In the Sestak match-up, 7 percent said they would vote for other candidates, while 18 percent were unsure, an indication that the Delaware County congressman remains an unknown to many Pennsylvanians.

That the incumbent Specter is polling at a mere 50 percent is an indication of his vulnerability, the report pointed out. The poll had a margin of error of 4.5 percent.

A Rasmussen poll yesterday showed Specter beating Sestak in the Democratic primary, 51 percent to 32 percent.

According to today’s poll, 50 percent of Pennsylvania voters have a favorable opinion of Toomey, within which 15 percent have a very favorable view. Thirty-five percent have an unfavorable view of Toomey, with 16 percent reporting very unfavorable. Sixteen percent said they don’t know enough about Toomey to have an opinion.

For Specter, 53 percent have a favorable opinion, with 24 percent very favorable. Forty-three percent had an unfavorable opinion, with 26 percent very favorable, and just 3 percent said they were unsure. The report showed that 42 percent have a favorable opinion of Sestak, with 12 percent very favorable. Thirty-two percent have an unfavorable opinion, with 12 percent very unfavorable.

But over a quarter of voters—26 percent—said they knew too little about Sestak to have an opinion.

Toomey’s unfavorables will go up when people realize what a right-wing extremist he is.

Specter’s unfavorables will go down once he votes for EFCA.

Diano, you are a left-wing hack. Newsflash: A strong majority of the people are in sync with Pat Toomey: they suppport a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution; they oppose corporate welfare; they oppose using federal tax dollars for such things as funding a study to determine why men don’t prefer to use condoms; they support term limits; the support traditional marriage.
What planet do you live on Dave?
