Charlie Gerow but not Mike Long? Yes it’s true that Long does more political work and Gerow’s clients are more corporate. But the only time they went head to head – this spring in Lebanon County, Mike Long’s home base – Gerow won and Long lost despite having all the advantages going in (the endorsement, organization, etc.).

Your doing us a great favor and I for one appreciate it.

I’m curious, however, as to what the criteria were used to rank these gentlemen. I’m also curious (not to suggest any bias) that there were no women nor people of color. Is this a reflection of the state of the business in PA?

All I heard here in the burg was how he single-handedly won McCord’s race, ran Clinton’s campaign while negotiated Obama’s, might have had a hand in Wagner’s race (who cares which one), all the while being Rendell’s right-hand man.

Folks need to get their facts straight before posting information. For fact, Mike Long was paid for by BOTH the Senate of Pennsylvania and the Senate Republican Campaign Committee. I don’t even work in the Capitol and I know this. His public (Senate) work was paid for with public money and his political work was paid for with campaign funds from the SRCC!

And yes, he should have made the list. To not him him but Charlie Gerow…makes this list meaningless. Charlie Gerow?? But not Mike Long!! Be serious.

Setting aside whether Mike Long really is a successful political consultant (didn’t he manage to lose the re-election campaigns of the top two leaders in his caucus?), I find it fascinating that a longtime PUBLIC employee is being recognized for his many years of POLITICAL efforts that put to shame those of the “Bonusgate” defendants.

Here is an observation. Mike Long is being lauded for maintaining the majority in the State Senate for the Republicans. You don’t note that for all those years he was continuously on the State Senate Republican Caucus staff. So, put him on your list, but you should note that he did it all while working on the public’s dime. You should have a blog post about why Corbett hasn’t indicted Mike Long (who received the largest bonus of any state legislative employee)even though everyone in the Capitol knows he spent a large portion of his time on the state payroll working on campaigns.
