Specter says chances for card-check compromise are ‘pretty good’
Senator Arlen Specters said Thursday that the “prospects are pretty good” for a compromise on the Employee Free Choice Act, The Associated Press reports.
Specter had come out against the “card-check” bill in March when he was still seeking to woo the conservative base he needed to win the Republican primary. But ever since he switched parties, organized labor has hoped he would come around and again support a measure he had backed in the past.
The bill would make it easier for workers to unionize. Specter said he was “hard at work trying to find some way to find an answer.”
