Schroder inches toward Congressional run
State Representative Curt Schroder (R-Chester) has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission that will allow him to begin organizing a potential run for Congress next year, CQ Politics reports.
Schroder has been planning for months to seek Congressman Jim Gerlach’s (R-6) House seat if Gerlach pursues statewide office. Whether Schroder’s formation of a campaign committee signals an increasing likelihood that Gerlach will run for Senate or Governor remains to be seen.
The race in the 6th District is expected to be one of the most competitive contests in the state. Democrat Doug Pike is running, and other Democrats are also eyeing the race.

Well, it’s official. He’s in:

And to assume he will get smoked is to demonstrate a less than intimate knowledge of this district. Gerlach has won a couple of tough, close races. Sure.
But Rep. Schroder’s resume and background show every indication that he can muster the bipartisan support necessary to do even better than Gerlach. Pike will definitely not smoke him, that’s for sure.
His toughest opponent will probably be Dinniman, but as of a couple of months ago State Senator Dinniman was still denying he was interested. That’s a less than honest beginning to a campaign. Schroder, at least, never denied he had interest in the seat.
