Judge Joan Orie Melvin looks strong heading into the 2009 elections
Joan Orie Melvin’s impressive victory last night in the contested Republican Supreme Court primary election is a good sign for our Party as we begin the 2009 general election season. The race for the state Supreme Court is incredibly important to our Party and will no doubt serve as the premier race in the commonwealth this year. This convincing win provides Orie Melvin, her campaign and our Party with a tremendous amount of momentum heading into the fall election, energy that will surely carry over into the 2010 cycle.
Our Party’s successes extended beyond the statewide races, as Republican 124th Legislative District candidate Jerry Knowles scored a 40-point victory over his Democratic challenger in a special election last night. This victory comes on the heels of state Senator Dave Argall’s big win in the 29th Senatorial District special election held in early March. Click here to read about Jerry’s big win.
The Republican message of fiscal conservatism and respect for the law has already resulted in important victories in 2009. We congratulate our candidates, and we look forward to seeing this trend of success continue.
