BILL KORTZ RECEIVING ENTHUSIASTIC RECEPTION FROM RANK AND FILE DEMOCRATS ACROSS STATE:

By BILL KORTZ FOR SENATE

Monday, May 4, 2009 – State Representative Bill Kortz has been traveling across the state talking to democrats in his grass roots campaign to secure the democratic nomination in the 2010 Pennsylvania primary for United States Senator.

He spoke in York County at the Annul Democratic Jefferson Jackson Dinner, where the Representative was received with much applause and shouts of, (Stay in the Race), and (We Deserve a Choice), or, (We want a (real) Democrat from Pennsylvania in the U.S. Senate).

He spoke with an enthusiastic crowd at the Lycoming County Democratic Spring Dinner in Williamsport Pennsylvania.

In Adams County he attended The Annual Adams County Democratic Committee Breakfast in historic Gettysburg, where his Great Grandfather, Jacob Kortz, was a member of the famous Pennsylvania 99th Regiment that fought on the Gettysburg battlefields, and many other important Civil War battles.

Many democrats also offered their support, offered to volunteer, and talked of their dismay at the leaders of the democratic party, and the media for (anointing) Arlen Specter the former republican as the “heir apparent” to the democratic nomination for U.S. Senator in the 2010 Pennsylvania democratic primary.

Energized by the enthusiasm from the rank and file democrats, Representative Bill Kortz will be continuing his grassroots campaign stops across Pennsylvania this week.

In Bucks County on Monday, May 4th, at 6:00 p.m., at the (Spring Mill Country Club in Warminster) to attend the Bucks County Democratic Spring Dinner.

In South East Berks County at Boyertown on Tuesday, May 5th at 7:00 p.m. for the S.E. Berks Democratic Club Candidates Night at the (Friendship Hook and Ladder Fire Company).

In Allegheny County on Wednesday, May 6th, at 6:00 p.m., at the Annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner at the (Westin Convention Center Pittsburgh).

Representative Kortz will also be attending the Jefferson County Democratic Spring Fling in Reynoldsville; at (The Bellamauro Social Hall) on Thursday at 6:00 p.m.

On Friday, May 8th at 6:00 p.m. the Representative will be at the Lehigh County Democratic Committee Annual Dinner in Allentown at (The Palace, 623 Hanover Avenue.)

Representative Kortz has been spreading his message of getting into this race “For All the Right Reasons.”
He goes on in his address to remind his fellow democrats that Senator Specter betrayed his Republican Party on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, for political self-preservation, and also reminds his fellow democrats that climbing off the elephant and onto a donkey does not make him a true blue democrat. He reminds his fellow democrats that, Specter’s selfish action begs the question: can he be trusted on issues going forward? The answer is clearly NO.

Now that Arlen Specter has switched hats after being a republican for 29 years, a republican by the way that sat back while his mentor and idol, Ronald Regan, broke the backs of organized labor by firing the striking Air Traffic Controllers. Yes the same Arlen Specter that participated in sending our jobs and economy overseas, now compels the representative to ask; “what has changed since Arlen Specter flipped parties?”  Has it changed the fact that he was part of the power structure at the helm when 9/11 happened and our CIA, FBI, and other security organizations were sleeping at the switch with no apparent oversight from our national leaders?

Did Specter protest when his republican ally President Bush put us into Iraq with its staggering costs in lives, money, and loss of respect overseas?

He ask the question; will Specter’s flipping parties change the fact the he was at the helm while the greedy and corrupt on Wall Street put this country into one of the worse economic situations ever?  Or while the mortgage crisis put more and more of our hard working families in the street, or while AIG and others were robbing or seniors of their lifelong savings, their dignity in retirement, and then lavishing themselves with multi-million dollar bonuses?

Representative Kortz goes on to point out; his flipping parties does not change the fact that he was at the helm while our government mortgaged our children and grandchildren’s future to China and other foreign countries.

And finally he asks; does his change to democrat alter the fact that he co-sponsored then flip flopped on the Card Check Bill, a bill that would finally start to reverse the damage his mentor Ronald Regan did to working people? Does this flip-flop to Democrat change the fact that he broke his word to organized labor?

The response from the rank and file democrats on the ground all across Pennsylvania has been a clear and resounding…. NO!
