Biden writes in support of Specter

Vice President Joe Biden has e-mailed half-a-million Obama supporters in Pennsylvania to tout Senator Arlen Specter for reelection, Politico reports.

“For more than 25 years, we’ve ridden the train together back to Wilmington and Philadelphia,” Biden wrote. “We’ve had some great debates and discussions on the train — and gotten to know each other so well — that it gives me great pleasure to be able to work even more closely with Arlen now.”

Biden’s letter comes as some Democrats remain wary of Specter’s switch to the party and with Congressman Joe Sestak still considering a primary challenge against him.

“His independence, integrity, and piercing intellect will continue to be a tremendous asset to the people of Pennsylvania, and now, to the Democratic caucus in the Senate,” Biden wrote of Specter.
