Lentz ready to give Congress a go

State Representative Bryan Lentz (D-Delaware) is preparing a likely run for Congress, more than three years after he bowed out of a Congressional primary in favor of Congressman Joe Sestak (D-7).

Sestak is now seen as likely to run for Senate. And while Lentz had initially said he would p“I’m going to take the next week or so and form a top-notch finance committee with the bigger political fundraisers and contributors from Delaware County and the region, and shortly thereafter file the papers,” Lentz said./p

Rendell: Sestak shouldn’t run, would ‘get killed’

Using by far his strongest words to discourage challengers to Senator Arlen Specter, Gov. Ed Rendell on Friday fiercely discouraged Congressman Joe Sestak (D-7) from running for Senate, saying the second-term House member would “get killed” in a primary.

Appearing on MSNBC’s The Ed Show, Rendell said bluntly for the first time that Sestak should not run.

“I’m a great admirer of Joe Sestak and worked hard to get him eletected and reelected, and i’m…

Hoeffel says he’d back Sestak (Updated)

The last Democrat to challenge Senator Arlen Specter in a general election says he’d be willing to support Specter’s likely opponent in the Democratic primary, Congressman Joe Sestak (D-7).

Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel, who ran an unsuccessful race against Specter in 2004, told pa2010.com that Specter’s support for former President George W. Bush’s agenda made it impossible for him to back the longtime incumbent, who recently switched to the Democratic Party.

“The fundamental problem…

Rules for economic stimulation

By its definition, “stimulus” is a brief, short-term shot-in-the-arm that causes a response. Paradoxically, government by its nature tends to be a long-term response.

The economic stimulus package is a stopgap measure that state and federal officials—including the next Governor—should not see as a substitute for long-term, structured economic recovery. By the same token, doing nothing and expecting tax cuts to pave the way to peace, love and understanding is a dangerous palliative for a…

Woops! Gotta spell ‘Spector’ correctly if you want to attack him

The conservative group Americans for Prosperity has started a letter-writing campaign to pressure Senator Arlen Specter to oppose Democratic policies.

Fair enough, but there’s only one problem: They misspelled his name.

It’s S-P-E-C-T-E-R people, not “Spector.” I wonder what position Americans for Propensity holds on proper spelling.
