Corbett spokesman addresses delay on Fumo non-profit
An aide to Attorney General Tom Corbett today fired back at criticism that his boss waited too long to investigate a non-profit tied to convicted former state Senator Vince Fumo.
Responding to an editorial in The Inquirer that criticized the delay, Corbett’s spokesman, Kevin Harley, said in a letter to the newspaper that the delay had been intentional, to allow the criminal trial to play out. He said the Attorney General’s office had moved quickly after Fumo’s conviction.
“Anyone familiar with civil proceedings could not with a straight face claim that this is ‘slow to take action,’” Harley wrote.
Corbett will likely seek the GOP nomination for governor next year.
